July, 2007, five TPA members attended the 32nd Annual NALA Conference in New Orleans. Three members, Doreen Hall, Debby Sawyer and Jaye Koch were speakers during the Affiliated Associations meeting. Additionally, Debby Sawyer was elected Affiliated Assocations Secretary for 2007-2008.
September 2007, TPA donated school supplies to Birdneck Elementary School and Cooke Elementary School in Virginia Beach. These items will be distributed to homeless children attending these schools.
October 9, 2007, TPA Annual Reception was held at the Town Point Club in Norfolk to commemerate Paralegals' Week in Virginia. Debby J. Sawyer, CP was awarded TPA's Founder's Award. Congratulations Debby for all your time and dedication to TPA and the paralegal profession!
February 12, 2008 - TPA held its Annual Membership Campaign Event at the law firm of Vandeventer Black, LLP in Norfolk. The event was a huge success and several of the guests joined the Association at the meeting.
March 19, 2008 - TPA held its Annual Seminar at Holiday Inn Select on Military Highway in Norfolk. Speakers for the event were Bill Magee of Regent University Law Libary who spoke on Legal Research, Andrew R. Fox, Esquire with the Norfolk City Attorney's Office who spoke on Legal Writing, and Christine Nguyen Piersall, Esquire who spoke on Notorious Notary Laws. There was a huge turnout and the attendees enjoyed a delicious buffet lunch following the seminar.
April 8, 2008 - Guest Speaker for the regular monthly meeting was Joseph DePadilla, Assistant United States Attorney. Mr. DePadilla gave a very informative presentation on Immigration Law.
